I've been a caregiver for decades and like some of you, my story is a rollercoaster of emotions, confusion, drama, and decisions. I've experienced many of the phases and stages of caregiving, and friends often reach out for advice as they navigate their own journeys with loved ones.
I've used lots of resources, national and local, in my caregiving journey. But I've found the best advice comes from other caregivers — the ones who have ridden the highs and lows, experienced multiple stages and phases and who understand the options and implications of decisions along the way.
So, with assistance from an amazing team, and with the guidance of professionals in home, elder care, elder law, and personal care services, primary care and end-of-life, healthcare technology, and services, I'm working to aggregate and share these stories as a way to help each other and provide a guidebook to our sons and daughters who will be caring for all of us one day.
As a critical component in this process, I'm asking fellow caregivers to share their perspectives and the stories that only you can tell. By collecting these experiences, I'm working to compile a resource that will be published in 2025.
If you're interested in sharing your experience, here's how you can help us document the true face of caregiving in America:
